Sec. 2.7. (a) An individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency of the English language sufficient to: (1) converse with the general public; (2) understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language; (3) respond to official inquiries; and (4) make entries on reports in records; to operate a commercial motor vehicle. (b) An individual must take and pass a knowledge exam and a skills exam in: (1) English; or (2) American Sign Language; to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
