Billy documentation
Task-based guides for reading diffs, tuning matching, exporting work product, following legislators, and sharing public bill pages.
Billy is a research tool for law firm legislative and regulatory practices — and for government-affairs and lobbying teams who track the same changing law. It tracks bill versions across Congress and the states and shows exactly what language changed — word-level redlines paired with evidence-grounded AI summaries you can audit and sign off — so you know what moved, why it matters, and what to do next. Workspaces encode what your team cares about so matching, suggestions, agentic briefs, and digests stay on-topic.
Getting started
Create an organization and workspace, run the onboarding wizard, and triage first suggestions under Find.
Workspaces & matching
Intent, keywords, citations, score thresholds, statute checklists, Find → Suggestions triage, resurfacing, and learned match weights.
Reading a diff
Change Log, Redline, Side-by-side, and Law as amended; evidence panel; verification ledger; size and confidence cues.
AI summaries
Quote grounding, semantic audit, verification ledger with counsel sign-off, affirm/correct/dispute, and size/confidence cues.
Exports & drafts
DOCX redlines and memos, client status reports, Drafts queue, and AI presets for client alerts, action alerts, and newsletters.
Agentic assists
Morning brief, suggestion triage lanes, Drafts queue, bill action chains, and grounded Ask Billy chat.
Language watches
Phrase and clause watches, cross-jurisdiction spread, zombie language, and resurfacing matches.
Statutes
Statute-centric dashboard, typed citation graph, collision alerts, and citation chips from diffs.
Regulations
Track proposed and final rules alongside bills — comment-period deadlines, stage changes, and semantic rule search.

Committee hearings and session deadlines in one agenda, linked to the bills you track.
Legislators & committees
The people directory: contact info, committee rosters, sponsored bills, roll-call votes on bills, and sponsorship alignment.
Stakeholders & outreach
Track the contacts behind your positions, import them from CSV, and draft grounded outreach.
Annotations
Span anchoring, re-anchoring across versions, and orphaned notes.
Notifications
Feed, digest frequencies, Slack webhooks, saved-search alerts, and public RSS feeds.
Public bill pages
SEO public bill URLs, related documents, and workspace client share links — what is public vs private.
